Shane Sullivan has been a licensed physical therapist (PT) for 21 years, and specializes in the treatment of spine disorders, orthopedic disorders, osteoporosis, and balance physical therapy. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1997 and was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award in the Department of Exercise Science. Following graduation, Shane accepted a clinical position as a certified athletic trainer (ATC) and certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), where he specialized in the rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and implementing safe and effective strength and conditioning programs to his patients. This clinical experience rounded out his preparation to further his education by attending the Arizona School of Health Sciences Physical Therapy program. Shane received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2002 (DPT) from A.T. Still University.
Shane has attended many post-graduate continuing education courses which allowed him to develop an interest in spine physical therapy. Shane decided to attend the post-graduate study in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of Spine Disorders through the McKenzie Institute USA Branch and he received his Certification (CERT. MDT) in 2008. Shane had the opportunity to meet the founder of the McKenzie Method, Robin McKenzie, and learn from him as he evaluated spine patients at the 10th International Spine Conference on Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in Queenstown, New Zealand. To strengthen his orthopedic physical therapy skills, Shane passed the Orthopedic Certification Specialist (OCS) Examination to become board certified in orthopedics. Shane also became a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS) through the Back School of Atlanta. Having noticed that most of his patients presented with osteoporosis, Shane also became certified in the physical therapy management of osteoporosis. Shane's advanced clinical knowledge (PT, DPT, CERT. MDT, OCS, ATC, CSCS, CEAS) reflects his devotion to his profession and his patients.
Shane lives in Scottsdale with his wife and four children. He enjoys time with family, running, hiking, music, and traveling.
